Saturday 30th November 2004, saw the first SMA Kickboxing / Kumite Competition. The
event was held at the Anchorage Lodge Dojo and was watched by many visitors and the
family and friends of SMA students.
What a day! The competition was opened by a demonstration from the students, juniors and
seniors alike, giving onlookers a taste of the training techniques and styles studied
at the club. Additional displays from the students were mixed amongst the various
competition rounds through out the day including; self defence, grappling and finally kali.
The competition followed on swiftly from the first demo with the opening rounds of the junior
Kumite which was split into two sections, boys and girls. This was followed by the youths
kickboxing, ladies kickboxing and finally men's kickboxing
As always post event food, drinks and socialising were enjoyed by Sensei and the SMA students.
