Current Instructor Profiles
Below is a list of individuals who I have certified as Instructors and
who are all currently active in studying under myself.
Paul is one of my original students and I have watched him develop into an outstanding martial artist and instructor. He is constantly absorbing material and this is displayed in his understanding of not just techniques, but the arts in general.
He is a well liked member of the group and as my senior instructor, I can always rely upon him to teach and deliver to the highest standard. Paul is a keen attendee of SMA seminars and has also trained under Guru Dan Inosanto, Terry Barnett, Guru John Spezzano, Erik Paulson, Rick Faye and Guru David Onuma.
Paul is also a certified Instructor under Terry Barnett and assists me in demonstrations and seminars in addition to being my training partner. I am very privileged to have such a solid character supporting me in the running of the school.
Sempai Mia Shirodkar

Mia first came to me as a young, shy individual who had a passion for learning. Whilst her passion continues, she has developed into a confident and very competent martial artist. Her valued teaching skills can be seen during any junior class, she can also give the seniors a good run for their money too!
Mia is a very sociable individual who genuinely enjoys everything she does.
She has always attended seminars both SMA and from other instructors including Guru Dan Inosanto, Guru Bob Breen, Terry Barnett, Guru John Spezzano, Rick Faye and Guru David Onuma.
Another incredible pillar of support who I am proud to have standing by my side.
Sempai Dave Savage

Dave has been a regular private student of mine for the past 3 years. He continues to attend various seminars and workshops which I teach on, and those which I host other Instructors.
I invited Dave onto the SMA Instructor Class a year ago, and have observed his technical ability dramatically improve. Always prepared to commit maximum effort, Dave is a very enthusiastic individual who possesses an excellent attitude and who is also the first person outside of SMA I have awarded Instructorship to
Sempai Duncan Lawley

I have had the pleasure of teaching Duncan for a number of years now and have watched him develop both physically and mentally. A hard worker who always gives his best, he is an asset to any class.
As well as being responsible for the maintaining and updating of the SMA website, Duncan also produces first class marketing material which is proof of his attention to detail and love of the arts.
A very active member in the social part of the school, Duncan is popular with both junior and senior students and is a valuable member to the training team.
Duncan is a regular attendee at seminars and has also trained under Guru Dan Inosanto, Terry Barnett, Rick Young, Rick Faye, Guru Bob Breen and Guru John Spezzano.
Sempai Matt Taylor

Matt's previous experiences prior to SMA includes being a black belt in Shotokan Karate.
His open minded approach to training has allowed him to utilise his skills and evidence of this has been repeatedly displayed in all aspects of his training.
Matt has taken an active role in assisting with the junior class and is always keen to support the school. He enjoys the social activities both in and outside the Dojo.
Matt has also studied under Guro's Terry Barnett, Rick Faye, Bob Breen, Rick Young, Suzanne and John Spezzano. More recently, Matt accompanied me to the Inosanto Academy where he trained under Guro Inosanto himself.
Sempai Lisa Taylor

Prior to starting with SMA, Lisa achieved black belt level in Shotokan Karate.
Having attained this high level, Lisa still continues to work hard and apply herself in order to develop her new skills and understanding.
Possessing an excellent attitude has enabled her to build upon her existing high standards.
Lisa assists in the Junior class and is constantly looking for ways to support the school. Another social asset to the school, Lisa has also trained under Guru's Terry Barnett, Rick Faye, Bob Breen, Rick Young and Suzanne and John Spezzano. More recently, Lisa accompanied me to the Inosanto Academy where she trained under Guro Inosanto himself.
Sempai Rob Brownsmith

Rob is more than capable of holding his own in any class environment. His healthy attitude and desire to learn has allowed him to progress significantly through the arts.
Having achieved black belt under myself, Rob expressed an interest in teaching and has contributed his efforts by assisting with both junior and seniors members.
Rob enjoys the social side of the school and is a keen seminar attendee. He has studied under Guro's Terry Barnett, Rick Faye, Rick Young, Bob Breen, Phil Norman, Suzanne and John Spezzano. As well as attending many UK seminars, Rob has trained at the Inosanto Academy under Guro Inosanto himself.
